After 5 minutes, open the door and feel the air inside the drum. It should be noticeably warm. If you have a non-contact infrared thermometer, aim it at the heating element housing through the rear vent – a working element will read 130–160°F within 3 minutes.   • The heating element tests good, the thermostats test good, but the dryer still doesn’t heat. The control board, timer, or wiring harness could be the culprit.
  • You see burnt or melted wires around the element or thermostat. This suggests a short or chronic overheating issue that requires professional diagnosis.
  • The dryer runs but the heat is weak or intermittent. A failing element or thermostat can cause partial heating – a multimeter may catch it, but sometimes replacing the cycling thermostat is the best first step.
